"The New Testament's Guide: To Tongues" PART ONE
November 16, 2025
DAY 1 Building Up, Not Showing Off Devotional
Reading: 1 Corinthians 14:1-5
Paul's instruction is clear: pursue love first, then spiritual gifts. The purpose of every spiritual gift is to build up the body of Christ, not to elevate ourselves. When we speak in tongues, we edify ourselves privately before God. When we prophesy, we encourage and strengthen the entire church. The greater gift isn't determined by its supernatural appearance but by its ability to serve others. Today, examine your motivations. Are you seeking spiritual experiences for personal validation or to genuinely serve others? God's supernatural gifts are meant to point people toward Jesus, not toward ourselves. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you desire gifts that build up your church community and glorify Christ above all.

DAY 2 The Gift That Builds You Up Devotional
Reading: Romans 8:26-27; 1 Corinthians 14:2-4
Speaking in tongues is a legitimate gift where the Spirit intercedes for us with mysteries we cannot understand. It's deeply personal—communication between you and God that builds you up spiritually. This isn't about emotionalism or manipulation; it's about the Spirit praying through you when words fail. Paul himself exercised this gift more than anyone, yet he maintained balance and wisdom about its use. Don't dismiss what Scripture affirms, but don't elevate it above other gifts either. If you have this gift, use it privately to strengthen your relationship with God. If you don't, remember that not everyone receives every gift—and that's perfectly biblical. What matters most is that you're growing in Christ and serving others faithfully.
DAY 3 Intelligible Words Bring Life Devotional
Reading: 1 Corinthians 14:6-12
Imagine a trumpet giving an unclear sound before battle—soldiers wouldn't know whether to advance or retreat. Paul uses this illustration to emphasize clarity in corporate worship. While tongues have their place, prophecy—speaking God's truth in understandable language—serves the gathered church. We can become so focused on spectacular spiritual experiences that we forget the power of clear, biblical teaching. Five intelligible words that instruct others surpass ten thousand words no one understands. This challenges us to prioritize substance over spectacle in our gatherings. How are you contributing to your church's edification? Are you speaking truth that others can understand and apply? Pursue gifts and practices that clearly communicate God's character, His gospel, and His will for His people.
DAY 4 The Spirit Points to Jesus Devotional
Reading: John 15:26-27; 16:12-15
The Holy Spirit's primary mission is to testify about Jesus and lead us into all truth. Every genuine spiritual gift will ultimately point people toward Christ, not toward the gift itself or the person exercising it. This is the test of authenticity. When spiritual manifestations draw more attention to themselves than to Jesus, something is wrong. The Spirit glorifies the Son, just as the Son glorified the Father. This Trinitarian humility should mark our use of spiritual gifts. Are your spiritual experiences making you more like Christ—more loving, humble, and others-focused? Or are they becoming a source of pride and division? Let the Spirit do His work of conforming you to Christ's image, using whatever gifts He distributes according to His will.
DAY 5 Embracing the Supernatural Life Devotional
Reading: 1 Corinthians 12:4-11; Ephesians 2:1-10
If you're a believer, you're already living in the supernatural. Your salvation is the greatest miracle—God sending Himself to die for sinners, raising Jesus from death, and indwelling you with His Spirit. Don't let unfamiliarity or past abuses cause you to reject what Scripture affirms about spiritual gifts. Equally, don't elevate certain gifts as proof of superior spirituality. The same Spirit distributes gifts as He wills for the common good. Your role is to pursue love, desire spiritual gifts (especially those that build others up), and use whatever gifts you receive with humility and biblical wisdom. Embrace the full supernatural reality of your faith—salvation, sanctification, and Spirit-empowerment—all pointing toward Jesus. Ask God today to make you everything He intends you to be in His church.
"The New Testament's Guide: To Prophecy" PART TWO
November 9, 2025
DAY 1 Anchored in Love, Tethered to Truth Devotional
Reading: 1 Corinthians 14:1-5
Paul begins with a powerful instruction: "Pursue love and earnestly desire spiritual gifts, especially prophecy." Notice the order—love comes first. Prophecy without love becomes noise, but prophecy flowing from love brings life. In the New Testament context, prophecy isn't about doom and gloom; it's about upbuilding, encouragement, and comfort. When we desire to prophesy, we're desiring to be God's voice of hope to others. This gift isn't reserved for a select few—it's something we should all earnestly desire because the body of Christ desperately needs timely words of encouragement. Today, ask yourself: Am I pursuing love first? Am I open to being used by God to build others up?

DAY 2 The Power of a Weighed Word Devotional
Reading: 1 Corinthians 14:29-33
"Let two or three prophets speak and let the others weigh what is said." This instruction reveals something crucial: New Testament prophecy must be tested. Unlike Old Testament prophets who spoke God's infallible word directly, we prophesy imperfectly and need accountability. This isn't about control; it's about protection—for both the speaker and the hearers. When we humble ourselves enough to let our words be weighed by mature believers, we create safety for the entire body. God is not a God of confusion but of peace. The weighing process ensures that what's shared truly builds up the church. If you sense God giving you a word for someone, don't rush forward alone. Find a trusted leader or mature believer to help you discern whether, when, and how to share it.
DAY 3 Becoming a Person of the Word Devotional
Reading: Psalm 119:97-105
"Oh how I love your law! It is my meditation all the day." If we desire to prophesy, we must first become lovers of God's Word. The psalmist's passion for Scripture seems almost excessive—meditating day and night, finding it sweeter than honey. Yet this is the heart required for prophetic ministry. New Testament prophecy must align with Scripture because God will never contradict Himself. If you're not regularly immersed in the Bible, prophecy isn't your next step—the Word is. When Scripture becomes your constant companion, your meditation, your delight, then the Holy Spirit can bring those truths to mind at precisely the right moment to encourage another believer. Today, ask: How deep is my love for God's Word? Am I feeding on it daily?
DAY 4 Conviction That Leads to Worship Devotional
Reading: John 4:7-26
When Jesus revealed the secrets of the Samaritan woman's heart, her response wasn't shame—it was worship. She ran to tell others, "Come, see a man who told me all that I ever did!" This is prophecy's power with unbelievers: revealing what only God could know, leading to conviction and worship. Paul says when prophecy functions properly, the unbeliever will fall on his face and declare, "God is really among you." Notice the progression: conviction, disclosure, worship. Prophecy isn't meant to condemn but to reveal God's intimate knowledge and care. When someone realizes God sees them, knows them, and still loves them, walls crumble. Have you experienced God revealing something about you that drew you closer to Him? That's the heart of prophetic ministry.
DAY 5 Building Up the Body Devotional
Reading: 1 Corinthians 14:12-19
"Since you are eager for manifestations of the Spirit, strive to excel in building up the church." Everything in spiritual life comes back to this purpose: building up the body. Paul would rather speak five understandable words that instruct than ten thousand incomprehensible ones. Why? Because the goal is always edification. When you receive a word you believe is from God—whether for one person or the whole congregation—ask yourself: Will this build up? Will this encourage? Will this bring comfort? If the answer is yes, and it aligns with Scripture, and mature believers confirm it, then step forward in faith. The church desperately needs Spirit-filled believers who will speak timely words of hope. Not words of condemnation, but of comfort. Not confusion, but clarity. Today, pray for opportunities to build someone up with a God-given word.
"The New Testament's Guide: To Prophecy " PART ONE
November 2, 2025
DAY 1 God Speaks Through His Son Devotional
Reading: Hebrews 1:1-4
God no longer speaks primarily through prophets as He did in ancient times. In these last days, He has spoken definitively through His Son, Jesus Christ—the living Word. This changes everything about how we hear from God today. We don't need to wait for a special messenger to arrive with a word from heaven. We have the complete revelation of God in Christ, preserved perfectly in Scripture. When you open your Bible, you're encountering God's voice speaking clearly and authoritatively. The Spirit illuminates these eternal truths to your heart. Today, resist the temptation to seek God's voice everywhere except His Word. Open the Scriptures expectantly, knowing that the same God who created the universe speaks to you through these pages.

DAY 2 Building Up the Body Devotional
Reading: 1 Corinthians 14:1-5
Every spiritual gift exists for one primary purpose: building up the church. Prophecy in the New Testament context means speaking God's Word to bring encouragement, comfort, and edification to fellow believers. This isn't about predicting the future or claiming "thus saith the Lord" with new revelation. It's about being so saturated in Scripture that God can use you to speak timely truth into someone's life. Think about your interactions with other believers. Are your words building them up? When you speak, do others leave encouraged and closer to Christ? Today, ask God to make you sensitive to opportunities where you can speak His truth to strengthen someone's faith. Let your native language become the Word of God, spoken in love at just the right moment.
DAY 3 Testing What We Hear Devotional
Reading: 1 John 4:1-6
Not every spiritual-sounding message comes from God. Scripture commands us to test the spirits and weigh what we hear against God's revealed truth. New Testament prophecy, unlike Old Testament prophetic utterances, can contain mistakes—which is exactly why we must know the Bible deeply. When someone shares a "word from the Lord" with you, measure it against Scripture. Does it align with God's character? Does it encourage, comfort, and build up? Does it point you toward Christ and His Word? You don't need to accept every spiritual claim uncritically. God has given you His Word as the standard. Grow in biblical literacy so you can spot truth from error. Be gracious but discerning, always anchoring yourself in the unchanging truth of Scripture.
DAY 4 Growing Up In Love Devotional
Reading: Ephesians 4:29-32
Imagine a community where believers speak God's Word to each other naturally, where encouragement flows from Scripture-saturated hearts, where the right word comes at the right time because the Spirit prompts it. This is what Paul envisioned when he said, "I want you all to prophesy." It's not about titles or platforms; it's about ordinary believers speaking extraordinary truth. Your spouse, your children, your fellow church members—they all need to hear God's Word spoken in timely, personal ways. Will you be that voice for them? Today, ask God to drop His Word into your heart for someone specific. Maybe it's a text of Scripture, maybe it's biblical encouragement. Don't overthink it—just speak life. When God's people speak God's Word to each other, the church becomes unstoppable.
DAY 5 Love as the Foundation Devotional
Reading: 1 Corinthians 13:1-13
Before we pursue spiritual gifts, we must pursue love. Without love, even the most spectacular gifts become meaningless noise—clanging cymbals that annoy rather than bless. The cross of Christ defines love for us: sacrificial, patient, and kind. When we look to Jesus, we see love that gave everything. This is our model. As you go through today, remember that being Spirit-filled isn't proven by dramatic displays but by a life marked by Christlike love. Before you speak, before you serve, before you exercise any gift, check your heart. Is love the motivation? Let the gospel anchor every interaction, every word, every action. We love because He first loved us.
"Love Is The Anchor"
October 26, 2025
DAY 1 The More Excellent Way Devotional
Reading: 1 Corinthians 12:27-31
Paul concludes his teaching on spiritual gifts by pointing us toward "a more excellent way"—the way of love. It's easy to become enamored with spectacular gifts or impressive spiritual experiences, but God's priority is always love. Without love as our foundation, even the most powerful spiritual gifts become empty noise. Remember, whether you feel like a "visible" part or a hidden one, you are indispensable to God's plan. Pray for a humble heart that celebrates the gifts of others while faithfully using your own for the good of the whole body.

Consider today: Are you pursuing spiritual experiences or spiritual maturity? God invites you into both, but love must be the anchor. When love guides how you use your gifts, serve others, and engage in community, everything changes. You move from performance to purpose, from self-focus to Christ-centeredness.

Application: Identify one spiritual gift or talent you have. Ask God to show you how love should shape the way you use it this week.

DAY 2 Love As The Anchor Devotional
Reading: 1 Corinthians 13:1-3
Paul uses dramatic language to make his point: without love, you are nothing. You can speak in tongues, prophesy, understand mysteries, have mountain-moving faith, give away everything you own, even sacrifice your life—but without love, it's all worthless.
This isn't about earning God's love through our actions; it's about reflecting the love we've already received. Christ loved you enough to die for you. That love should overflow into how you treat others, especially in the body of Christ. Love isn't an add-on to spiritual maturity; it's the very foundation.
When you're tempted toward self-loathing ("my gifts aren't good enough") or arrogance ("my gifts are better than yours"), love anchors you to truth and humility.

Application: Reflect on a recent moment when you served or used your gifts. Was love your motivation? Confess any pride or insecurity to God.
DAY 3 The Character Of Love Devotional
Reading: 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
These verses aren't just beautiful wedding material—they're a practical guide for navigating spiritual community. Patient. Kind. Not envious, boastful, arrogant, or rude. Love doesn't insist on its own way or keep a record of wrongs.
Read this passage again, but insert your own name: "[Your name] is patient and kind. [Your name] does not envy or boast..." How does it feel? Uncomfortable? That's because this kind of love is supernatural—it requires the Spirit's power working in us.
This is especially crucial when navigating spiritual gifts together. Patience with those who are skeptical. Kindness toward those who are learning. Humility about your own gifting. This is how we avoid becoming "our own worst enemy" in the body of Christ.

Application: Choose one characteristic of love from verses 4-7 that challenges you most. Practice it intentionally in your interactions today.
DAY 4 Growing Up In Love Devotional
Reading: 1 Corinthians 13:8-12
Paul reminds us that we see "in a mirror dimly" right now. Our knowledge is partial. Our prophecy is incomplete. Our understanding is limited. But one day, when Christ returns, we will know fully, even as we are fully known.
This should create humility in us. None of us has it all figured out. We're all growing, learning, maturing. The spiritual gifts are for now—tools God gives us to build up the body until Jesus returns. They won't be needed in eternity because we'll be with Love Himself.
Spiritual maturity means putting away childish approaches to gifts—the competitiveness, the showing off, the misuse. It means growing up into people who use gifts with wisdom, order, and above all, love.

Application: In what area of spiritual life do you need to "grow up"? Ask God for maturity and wisdom in that area.
DAY 5 Faith, Hope, and Love Abide Devotional
Reading: 1 Corinthians 13:13
"So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love."
Faith connects us to God. Hope sustains us through trials. But love—love is the eternal reality we'll experience face-to-face when we see Jesus. Love is what we've received from God through Christ's sacrifice. Love is what we're called to extend to others. Love is what remains forever.
As you pursue spiritual gifts, as you serve in your church, as you navigate relationships with other believers, let love be your anchor. Not the showy, emotional kind of love, but the patient, kind, enduring love that reflects Christ. This love will keep you from pride and insecurity. This love will unify the body. This love will last.

Application: Memorize 1 Corinthians 13:13. Throughout your day, when faced with decisions about how to treat others, ask: "What does love require of me right now?"
"Unity In Diversity: Part 2"
October 19, 2025
DAY 1 Gifted for the Body Devotional
Reading: 1 Corinthians 12:12-27
God's design for the church is beautiful in its diversity. Just as our physical bodies are made up of many different parts working together, so too is the body of Christ. Each member has a unique role and gifting, yet all are equally valuable and necessary. Today, reflect on your place within the body of Christ. How has God uniquely gifted you? Remember, whether you feel like a "visible" part or a hidden one, you are indispensable to God's plan. Pray for a humble heart that celebrates the gifts of others while faithfully using your own for the good of the whole body.
DAY 2 Doubting Our Giftings Devotional
Reading: Jeremiah 1:4-10
Many of us struggle with feelings of inadequacy when it comes to serving God. Yet, God often calls us to tasks that seem beyond our natural abilities. When God called Jeremiah, the prophet protested that he was too young and unskilled. But God touched Jeremiah's mouth and filled him with divine words. Today, consider areas where you feel inadequate in your faith or service. Bring those doubts to God in prayer. Remember that God doesn't call the equipped; He equips the called. Trust that if God is calling you to something, He will provide everything you need to fulfill that calling.
DAY 3 Danger of Spiritual Arrogance Devotional
Reading: James 4:6-10
The sermon warns against the danger of becoming arrogant about our spiritual gifts, especially those that are more visible. This echoes James' warning about pride and his call for humility. It's easy to fall into the trap of thinking our gifts make us superior or that we don't need others. But true spiritual maturity is marked by humility and interdependence. Today, examine your heart for any traces of spiritual pride. Are there ways you've been looking down on others or dismissing their contributions? Pray for God to cultivate a humble spirit within you, one that recognizes all gifts as coming from Him and values the contributions of every believer.

DAY 4 Suffering Together Devotional
Reading: Romans 12:9-21
The sermon emphasizes how in the body of Christ, "if one member suffers, all suffer together." This reflects Paul's teaching in Romans about genuine love and sharing in each other's joys and sorrows. In a world that often promotes individualism, God calls us to deep, empathetic community. Today, consider how you respond when others in your faith community are hurting. Do you truly "mourn with those who mourn"? Ask God to soften your heart and increase your capacity for compassion. Look for practical ways to show support and care for someone who is struggling, remembering that in doing so, you're living out the love of Christ.
DAY 5 Earnestly Desiring the Higher Gifts Devotional
Reading: 1 Corinthians 12:27-31, 13:1-3
The text ends with a call to "earnestly desire the higher gifts," leading into Paul's famous discourse on love. This reminds us that while all spiritual gifts are valuable, love is the foundation that gives them true worth. As you reflect on your own gifts and role in the body of Christ, remember that without love, even the most impressive spiritual abilities are meaningless. Today, pray for God to increase your capacity to love others as He loves them. Ask Him to show you how your gifts can be used not for self-promotion, but as expressions of His love to build up the church and draw others to Christ. Consider how you might use your gifts this week in a way that tangibly demonstrates God's love to someone in need.
"Unity In Diversity: Part 1"
October 12, 2025
DAY 1 Unity Not Uniformity Devotional
Reading: 1 Corinthians 12:12-27
As we read about the body of Christ, reflect on how God has uniquely gifted you. Just as each part of the body is essential, so too is each member of the church. Your spiritual gifts, no matter how seemingly small or insignificant, are vital to the functioning of the whole. Today, ask God to help you recognize and appreciate your gifts, as well as those of others around you. How can you use your gifts to build up the body of Christ?
DAY 2 The Power of the Holy Spirit Devotional
Reading: Acts 2:1-21
The early church was transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit. This same Spirit dwells in every believer today. As you read about Pentecost, consider how the Spirit is working in your life. Are you fully embracing the Spirit's power and guidance? Pray for a renewed awareness of the Spirit's presence and a willingness to be used in whatever way God chooses, regardless of how spectacular or ordinary it may seem.
DAY 3 Salvation by Grace Devotional
Reading: Ephesians 2:1-10
Today's passage reminds us that salvation is a gift from God, not something we can earn. Reflect on your own journey of faith. How has God's grace transformed your life? Remember that your worth is not determined by your abilities or achievements, but by God's love for you. How can you extend this same grace to others, especially those who may feel inadequate or unworthy?
DAY 4 Embracing Your Gifting Devotional
Reading: Romans 12:3-8
God has given each of us unique gifts and callings. As you read this passage, consider how you can serve others with the gifts you've been given. Are there areas where you've been hesitant to step out in faith? Ask God for the courage to fully embrace your role in the body of Christ, remembering that every part is necessary and valuable.
DAY 5 The Manifestation of the Spirit Devotional
Reading: Galatians 5:16-26
The fruit of the Spirit is evidence of God's work in our lives. As you read about these qualities, reflect on how they are manifesting in your own life. Are there areas where you need to grow? Remember that just as spiritual gifts are given by God, so too is the fruit of the Spirit cultivated through our relationship with Him. Pray for a deeper connection with God that will naturally produce these qualities in your life, enabling you to be a more effective part of the body of Christ.
"Spirit-Filled People: Part 2"
October 5, 2025
DAY 1 The Manifestation of God's Love Devotional
Reading: 1 Corinthians 13:1-13
As we begin this journey, we're reminded that love is the foundation of all spiritual gifts and the true evidence of a Spirit-filled life. Today's passage, often called the "love chapter," beautifully illustrates the supremacy of love. Reflect on how love manifests in your life. Are your actions and words driven by genuine love for God and others? Consider areas where you might be operating in giftings or service without love as the motivating factor. Ask God to deepen your capacity to love, recognizing that without love, even our most impressive spiritual accomplishments are meaningless. How can you practically demonstrate God's love to someone today?
DAY 2 Unity in Diversity Devotional
Reading: 1 Corinthians 12:4-11
Today's reading highlights the beautiful diversity of spiritual gifts within the body of Christ. Just as our physical bodies have many parts with different functions, so too does the Church. Reflect on your own unique gifts and how they contribute to the body of believers. Remember, these gifts are apportioned by the Holy Spirit for the common good, not for personal glory. Are you using your gifts to serve others and glorify God? Take time to appreciate the gifts of those around you, recognizing that each person's contribution is vital. How can you encourage someone in their spiritual gifting today?
DAY 3 The Power of the Holy Spirit Devotional
Reading: Acts 1:8 and Romans 8:9-11
The Holy Spirit's power is a central theme in the Christian life. Today's passages remind us that the same Spirit who raised Christ from the dead lives in us. This indwelling Spirit empowers us for witness and transforms us from the inside out. Reflect on areas of your life where you need the Holy Spirit's power. Are there situations where you've been relying on your own strength instead of God's? Take time to surrender those areas to God, asking for a fresh filling of His Spirit. How can you step out in faith today, relying on the Spirit's power rather than your own abilities?
DAY 4 Earnestly Desiring Spiritual Gifts Devotional
Reading: 1 Corinthians 14:1-5
Paul encourages believers to "earnestly desire spiritual gifts." This doesn't stem from selfish ambition, but from a heart that longs to see God's power manifested for the edification of the Church. Today, examine your heart. Do you desire spiritual gifts out of love for God and His people? Are you open to how the Spirit might want to work through you? Remember, the purpose of all gifts is to build up the body of Christ. Pray for discernment and openness to how God might want to use you. Is there a specific gift you feel led to pray for today?
DAY 5 Walking in Love and Truth Devotional
Reading: Ephesians 4:11-16
Our final reading emphasizes the goal of spiritual gifts: the maturity and unity of the body of Christ. As we grow in love and truth, we become more like Christ. Reflect on your spiritual journey. How have you grown in your understanding and application of God's truth? In what ways has your capacity to love increased? Remember, true spiritual maturity is marked by both love and truth – we need both to avoid being "tossed to and fro by the waves." Today, commit to speaking the truth in love in your interactions with others. How can you encourage someone towards spiritual maturity today?
"Spirit-Filled People: Part 1"
September 28, 2025
DAY 1 The Gifted Body of Christ Devotional
Reading: 1 Corinthians 12:1-11
In today's reading, the Apostle Paul introduces us to the concept of spiritual gifts and their significance within the body of Christ. These gifts are diverse, yet all are empowered by the same Spirit. The purpose of these gifts is to serve others and to glorify God, emphasizing that we are all interconnected parts of one body. As you meditate on this passage, consider the spiritual gifts you perceive within yourself. Reflect on how you can use these gifts to serve and uplift your community. Seek God's guidance to better understand your role in the unity and diversity within the body of Christ. Let this be a reminder of the divine presence in every believer and the power that comes in serving together for His glory.
DAY 2 A More Excellent Way Devotional
Reading: 1 Corinthians 13:1-13
In this well-known chapter, Paul outlines the supremacy of love over spiritual gifts. He highlights that even the most remarkable of gifts, if exercised without love, amount to nothing. Love is patient, kind, and rejoices with the truth. As you reflect on this chapter, let the attributes of love penetrate your heart. Assess how you demonstrate love in your daily interactions. Is your life marked by a love that reflects Christ's love for us? Pray for the ability to love others sacrificially, just as Christ loves us. This chapter invites us to elevate love as the preeminent guide in our spiritual journey, reminding us that our faith, hope, and love must lead us to Christ-like living.
DAY 3 Order in Worship Devotional
Reading: 1 Corinthians 14:26-33
Paul discusses the importance of order within the church, especially during worship. God is a God of order, not chaos. He calls the church to ensure that worship is conducted in a manner that edifies all believers. Reflect on how you contribute to the peace and order of your community. Are your actions helping to build others up? As you study this passage, examine your approach to corporate worship and your role in the church environment. Pray for a heart aligned with God's peace and that your participation in the church introduces harmony and order, reflecting God's character to those around you.
DAY 4 Salvation Through the Spirit Devotional
Reading: John 3:1-8
This conversation between Jesus and Nicodemus presents the necessity of being born of the Spirit to enter the kingdom of God. Jesus emphasizes that spiritual rebirth is essential for salvation. Ponder what it means to be born of the Spirit and how this spiritual birth transforms your life. Are you living in a way that exhibits the transformative power of the Holy Spirit? Pray for a deeper understanding of your spiritual rebirth and a continual renewal of your faith. Embrace the assurance that comes with being a new creation in Christ, living in the freedom and purpose of your salvation.
DAY 5 Hope in Suffering Devotional
Reading: Romans 5:1-5
Paul writes about the peace and hope available to believers through faith in Christ. Even in suffering, there is a purpose as it produces perseverance, character, and hope. God's love is poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit. As you read this passage, consider your own experiences of suffering. How have these trials shaped your character and faith? Find comfort in the understanding that suffering is not without purpose and that God's presence is constant throughout. Pray for strength and perseverance, knowing that your faith is strengthened through your trials, and be encouraged by the hope that does not disappoint. Let this hope be an anchor in the storms of life, deeply rooted in God's unchanging love.
"Significance of Communion"
September 21, 2025
DAY 1 Remembering Christ's Sacrifice Devotional
Reading: 1 Corinthians 11:23-26
As we reflect on the institution of the Lord's Supper, let's consider the profound significance of Christ's sacrifice. Just as Jesus took bread and wine to represent His body and blood, we are called to remember His death with reverence and gratitude. Today, take a moment to truly contemplate what it means that Christ's body was broken and His blood was shed for you personally. How does this shape your view of God's love? In what ways can you live today that honor this ultimate sacrifice?
DAY 2 Examining Our Hearts Devotional
Reading: 1 Corinthians 11:27-32
Paul's warning about taking communion in an unworthy manner isn't meant to scare us, but to prompt sincere self-reflection. Today, spend time in honest self-examination. What areas of your life need God's transforming touch? Remember, the goal isn't to feel unworthy, but to recognize our need for Christ's grace and to approach Him with humility and repentance. How can you cultivate a habit of regular self-reflection in your spiritual life?
DAY 3 Unity in Christ's Body Devotional
Reading: 1 Corinthians 11:17-22, 33-34
The Corinthian church's divisive behavior during communion deeply troubled Paul. Their actions reflected a lack of love and consideration for fellow believers. Today, consider how you treat others in your faith community. Are there ways you can foster greater unity and care? Remember, when we come together as believers, we represent Christ's body. How can you practically demonstrate Christ's love to someone in your church this week?
DAY 4 The New Covenant in Christ's Blood Devotional
Reading: Luke 22:14-20
Jesus established the New Covenant through His blood, fulfilling and superseding the Old Covenant. This New Covenant offers forgiveness, reconciliation with God, and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Reflect on what it means to live under this New Covenant. How does the reality of Christ's blood shed for you impact your daily walk with God? In what ways can you more fully embrace the freedom and responsibility that comes with this covenant relationship?
DAY 5 Proclaim Christ's Death Until He Comes Devotional
Reading: 1 Corinthians 11:26, Revelation 19:6-9
Every time we take communion, we proclaim Christ's death "until He comes." This reminds us that while we look back at Christ's sacrifice, we also look forward to His return. How does this dual perspective shape your faith? Consider how the hope of Christ's return influences your daily choices and priorities. As you go about your day, how can you live in a way that proclaims Christ's death and resurrection to those around you, while also eagerly anticipating His return?
